What Your Skin Sleeps Against

Sensitivity, eczema, allergy and acne have almost nothing in common clinically. But each one is made measurably worse by the same three things happening in your bed every night.
If your skin reacts to most of what you apply, it will also react to what’s applied to your fabric. Wrinkle-resist resin, optical brighteners and softener finishes sit on the fiber surface and survive repeated washing. This set is made without all three — one fewer variable to rule out.

The smoothness and the moisture handling here are properties of the fiber and the structure — not a softening agent, not a film, not something sprayed on at the end of the line. That distinction matters, because anything applied to a fiber comes off it eventually: into your wash, then onto your skin. Structure doesn’t.
You shift position dozens of times a night, and every movement drags fabric across skin. Viscose from bamboo is extruded as a long, uniform filament rather than spun from short staples, so fewer fiber ends stand up off the surface to catch. Less catch, less mechanical irritation — which matters most on skin whose barrier is already compromised.
Sweat is not neutral. It carries lactic acid, ammonia and salt — direct chemical irritants on inflamed skin — and once skin is damp, abrasion from fabric increases substantially. Viscose from bamboo has notably high moisture regain, moving sweat off skin into the fiber where it can evaporate, instead of pooling at the contact point.
A pillowcase accumulates sebum, hair product and shed skin, then presses it back into your face for eight hours. A tighter, smoother weave holds less of it and releases more of it in the wash. Actives and procedures work by disrupting the skin barrier on purpose. That’s the mechanism. It also means that for the hours afterward your skin is more permeable, more reactive and more vulnerable to friction than it has been all week — and you spend almost all of that window asleep, pressed into fabric.
Nobody sells you the surface. They sell you the treatment, then leave the recovery to whatever happens to be on the bed.
Applied at night, by design. Peeling and sensitivity peak in the same hours you’re pressed into a pillowcase.
