Our Story

SoftLanding started with one night in a guest house in Asia and bedding unlike anything I had ever felt. It turned out the sheets had been handcrafted by Onaki's family — a heritage of textile knowledge passed down through generations, starting with her grandmother. It took a year of conversations to convince her family to share it. That's the whole origin. Everything we make comes from that. Onaki's family built their craft around a single question: what does this fabric actually do against skin? Not how does it photograph, not what does the thread count say — what does it do. That question is why SoftLanding's bedding works differently to what you'll find elsewhere. The weave, the materials, the construction — all of it comes from people who spent decades thinking about fabric against bodies. We sell directly, without wholesalers or distributors, because the family's work shouldn't cost three times more because of margins that have nothing to do with making it. The price reflects what it costs to make something this carefully — not what a retailer needs to mark it up to. Your skin and hair spend eight hours against your bedding every night. The cleaner the surface, the less friction, the more natural the materials — the more that time works for you instead of against you. That's what SoftLanding is for.
